We will discuss our talented professors, alumni employment rate, and our global locations. This exploration into SCAD’s creative careers will also feature a collaborative question and answer section which will delve into the differences between our 40 majors and 75 minors. Houston Grampian Association - OTC Breakfast

The Houston Grampian Association will host a breakfast to celebrate the 50th Anniversary year of the OTC. This breakfast is one of the opening events of the OTC week.

The breakfast will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 (8am – 9 am Coffee & Social Networking & at 9 am Breakfast will be served) at The Hilton Post Oak, 2001 Post Oak Blvd, Houston, TX 77056.

Tables of 10 Sponsorship is $1000, Tables of 5 Sponsorship is $500, Individual seats are $60 for non members and $50 for members.

The main speaker this year is –

Gordon McIntosh – and he will talk about the ever changing Oil & Gas Market across the World.
He is the current Deputy Minister of Natural Resources for the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. He was previously Director of Aberdeen City Council from 1995 until retirement in August of 2016 (in Enterprise, Planning and Infrastructure), Past Vice Chairman Grampian Houston Association, Burgess of the City of Aberdeen, Past Director of Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Center, Visiting Professor – Robert Gordon University Director AREG (Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group), Director Petroleum Research Newfoundland and Labrador.

Other speakers are –

Susan Schneider of Houston Baptist University will speak about the yearly Nurse Exchange Program with Houston Baptist and Aberdeen Robert Gordon’s Universities which was founded in 1982. 2017 and 2018 exchange nurses will be in attendance.


Harry Gee, President of Sister Cities Houston will speak about the importance of Sister Cities in a Worldwide Business. There are 18 Sister Cities and Gampian, Scotland was the 5th City to join Houston’s partnership in 1979

Russian Oprah Singer – Elena Fray – will open the Breakfast with the US National Anthem

Scottish Piper will perform as people arrive

McCallum is the whisky sponsor.

Money raised will benefit the yearly Nurse Exchange Program, they are a 501(C)3 charity.

BAFTX Royal Wedding Party

Join BAFTX for the biggest Royal event of the year!

Sparkle like a Markle as we bid farewell to Britain's most eligible bachelor and wish him and his gorgeous new bride well as they start married life together. We will hold a celebratory brunch at Royal Oaks Country Club on May 19, complete with mimosas, big screen coverage, raffles, games and a few surprises.

Formal hats are very welcome (it's a British wedding after all!) and may win you a prize, bring your friends for this right Royal knees up!

It's all for a good cause, the British American Foundation of Texas, raising funds to award scholarships to gifted students from very low income households in Texas.

Europe Day Celebration

Europe Day is the EU’s official day to celebrate peace and unity in Europe. The date marks the anniversary of the historical 'Schuman declaration', which set out the French foreign minister’s idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe.

It is considered to be the beginning of what is now the European Union. To celebrate this day, the European Chambers of Commerce in Houston organize an elegant and high-profile evening reception, which brings together the members from the German, Spanish, Dutch, Finnish, Swedish, Danish, French and Italian Chambers of Commerce.

In order to assist with this, we have developed a series of workshops led by experts in their field who will come and share their expertise with us in person. Each workshop will be interactive and have an area of focus. There will be ample opportunity to ask questions and to participate.

You will also have the opportunity to take a tour of the campus and refreshments will be available.

Piper Alpha Disaster 30th Anniversary Commemorative Lunch

The 30th anniversary of the Piper Alpha North Sea disaster is coming up on July 6th. A special lunch and live streaming of the commemorative service in Aberdeen will be held at the Petroleum Club in Houston that day.
